Feeding & Swallowing Services

Our highly trained feeding and swallowing therapists work with clients who experience a variety of feeding and swallowing disorders due to genetic, developmental, and traumatic causes. Our experienced therapists work with children and families by providing compassionate, patient, fun treatments to help children grow and thrive!

Our feeding specialists may help with children demonstrating or experiencing:

  • Coughing, choking or gagging during meals, drinks, or snacks

  • Crying, fussing, arching back when feeding

  • Difficulty breathing while eating/drinking

  • Difficulty chewing

  • Difficulty transitioning from bottle to cup or straw

  • Extremely long feeding times

  • Feeding difficulty secondary to cleft lip or palate, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis and/or other medical diagnoses.

  • Gurgly voice after eating/drinking

  • Muscle weakness in face/neck

  • Refusal to eat/drink all or specific foods/food types

  • Reflux/stomach problems

  • Resisting touching/tasting new foods

  • Sensitivities to tastes, temperatures and/or textures

  • Transitioning from tube feedings to oral feeding

Lactation Consultation

Breastfeeding can be an amazing experience between a mother and child; however, it can also be one of the most challenging times in a mother’s life.  We support mothers during these times in order to foster a positive breastfeeding experience. Expressive Connections provides an environment for parents to feel comfortable, supported, and understood as they navigate through their nursing journey.  If you are a mom facing feeding challenges with a newborn, it can be an emotional and difficult time. We are here to answer questions or address your concerns, and we encourage you to reach out so that our qualified and experienced lactation consultant may provide help and reassurance.
