It Takes Two To Talk®
Expressive Connections' Hanen certified speech-language pathologists offer the It Takes Two to Talk Program ® , which is designed for parents of young children (birth to 5 years of age) who have been identified as having a language delay.
In a small, personalized group setting, we teach parents practical strategies to help their children learn language naturally by showing you, step-by-step, how to become your child’s most important language teacher.
It Takes Two to Talk ® incorporates early intervention research in the use of concrete strategies that are easy for parents to understand and put into practice. Throughout the program, you will have many opportunities to practice and discuss each strategy you learn with a speech-language pathologist so that you’ll be comfortable and confident using them at home to improve your child's language development. Through our program, you’ll discover simple things you can do during everyday activities like meal time, car rides, story time and bath time to create enjoyable learning opportunities for your child.
Each child should have received a recent evaluation by a speech-language pathologist to assess their communication level relative to same-aged peers.
1 in-home pre-program consultation for you and your child with a Hanen Certified speech-language pathologist.
8 2+ hour training sessions for parents in small, personalized groups led by the speech-language pathologist
3 individual visits for you and your child with the speech-language pathologist in which you are video-taped while practicing strategies to help your child achieve specific communication goals. You and the speech-language pathologist then watch the videotaped interaction to “see” what’s helping your child and what you can modify to help even more.
A Practical Guidebook for Parents you’ll use throughout the program to support your learning
